New report: Broken Plate 2025

The Food Foundation released this year’s Broken Plate Report in Parliament late last month. It highlights challenges across all three food environment metrics and outcome metrics.
Food environment metrics:
Price and affordability
Appeal and availability of healthy food
Outcome metrics
Diet quality
Environmental and health outcomes
The report found that children are consuming less than the recommendations of many healthy food groups, while overconsuming nutrients such as free sugars and saturated fat. At the same time, metrics show that healthy and sustainable foods are typically less affordable and less readily available than unhealthy foods. They are also less promoted and so often less appealing.
